Maldives independent travel
There is hardly a person who refuses to visit the Maldives. Many people call these islands in the Indian Ocean an earthly paradise. Snow-white sand, the purest turquoise sea, colorful sea inhabitants – well, what else is needed for a great vacation. One trouble is the cost of the trip. Having visited the sites of various travel agencies, we experienced complete disappointment. Everywhere we go, we were offered the same hotels with an inhuman price tag.
WANT TO RELAX WELL WITHOUT DAMAGE TO THE BUDGET – DO IT YOURSELF
Upon reflection, we decided to organize a trip ourselves. Arguments:
Firstly, you do not need to get a visa in advance, it is set at the airport.
Secondly, there are a lot of hotels at different prices on specialized resources, and choosing an affordable option is a very real task.
Thirdly, airlines have regular discounts and promotions, the main thing is to monitor the situation.
The latter turned out to be the most difficult. We had been waiting for the action for a long time, but patience was rewarded. Before the new year, we bought 2 tickets for 32,000 rubles each! It turns out that the Maldives can become a budget resort, if you really try. In January, we flew with Emirates with a change in Dubai for 11 days to the most beautiful place on Earth.
On the Internet there are many aggregator sites with hotels. The choice of options for living is simply the widest. However, the cheaper ruble threatened to make a serious hole in the budget. Hotels, which some time ago ideally fit into the deferred amount for the trip, were not available to us. There is always a way out. We turned our attention to the guesthouses. Almost everything is the same, but much cheaper. Choose from 2 options. One was located on the island of Thodoo, the second on Omadhoo, and he was chosen. We didn’t go to Thodoo because of problems with the transfer (after 2 years we got there and there are no problems with the transfer there, read the new article). We would have to sail the ocean at night for 6 hours. We didn’t even consider housing at Maafushi, didn’t like the reviews, everything is sad there somehow.
Maldives is an island state, so you can get anywhere only by plane or boat. If you eat alone, consider this important point. Miscalculations in planning can cost time and extra money.
Attention! On Fridays no one swims anywhere. You can fly by plane, pre-booked a ticket, or still go on a voyage in a private boat, but for a lot of money. So, for example, a trip to Omadhoo by private boat will cost $ 600, and on a regular day – by public speed boat $ 25.
The following types of dance are available. Price depends on destination:
Speedboat (she is a speed boat). The speed is normal, the cost is acceptable (from 25 to 50 dollars).
Ferry (not a speed boat at all). Swims slowly, is cheap.
A plane or private boat (from $ 300).
More details about the schedule and prices can be found on the website http://www.atolltransfer.com/#!buy-tickets-/cyfs
We flew on Monday. Omadhoo Kuri Inn could be reached in several ways.
On a speed boat for $ 25 per person for 1 hour 40 minutes. Departure in 4 days.
On ferry for 6 hours. Departure at 9 in the morning.
In our opinion, it seemed most reasonable to stay in the capital, relax, and then sail on a speed boat.
There are exchangers with a good exchange rate at the airport. It is worth exchanging a certain amount of money for food and travel. You can leave dollars, but in rubles (local currency), goods and services will be cheaper than evergreen American bills.
Transfer from the island airport to the capital of Male takes about 15 minutes across the beautiful ocean. The price of the trip is 10 rupees or 1.5 dollars.
In Male, we took a taxi for $ 10 to the pier of Petrol Jet. There is a parking of boats, boats and other boats. Water tansport has already been reserved for us by the managers of the Omadhoo Kuri Inn. We handed over our suitcase bags to the captain and went for a walk around the city. Despite the departure at 16.00, at 10 in the morning the boat was already in place, waiting for passengers.
The capital is as small as the state itself. The city can be bypassed all on foot without much difficulty. There are almost no attractions. It is worth noting the Muliage palace, mosques, the National Museum and the market with exotic fruits and gizmos. There is no fuss and cleanliness around, which is quite rare for South Asia.
Snack in a small cafe. Prices compared to Thailand, which we are already fed up with, can not be called humane. Rice with chicken and vegetables costs as much as $ 10.
Judging by the number of children’s stores, little shoppers are very fond of. Perhaps a rare parent will refuse to pamper his child. There is a beach, but you can’t sunbathe in it in a bikini, so as not to offend the feelings of the local population.
The walk tired us, they probably drank 5 liters of water due to the intense heat.
