Prices for food and souvenirs in Koh Samui

In Thailand, there is a cult of food. There is hardly any other country in the world with so many food outlets per quarter. Siamese culinary specialists over the centuries not only created their dishes, but also accumulated the experience of their neighbors. Having borrowed the best from the field of gastronomy, they created real masterpieces that can please the taste buds of the most picky gourmets.

Although food is not the main expense item in Thai resorts, it will not be out of place to figure out how much to take with you when traveling to the paradise island of Koh Samui.

HOW MUCH DOES BREAKFAST?

If you live in a hotel, then a morning meal is most likely already included in the price. A varied buffet will equally satisfy the tastes of lovers of a tight snack and fans of a small cup of coffee with a croissant.

Travelers renting villas, bungalows and modest apartments should take care of their breakfast themselves. They can share a morning meal with hotel guests, giving from 120 baht for a continental breakfast or from 300 baht for a buffet, try to find a working cafe, which is very difficult in the early hours, or cook their own meals. The latter option is the most convenient and cheapest for the price.

If in the morning you do not want to stand by the stove, then an invigorating drink, scrambled eggs with bacon or sausages, vegetables, a slice of crispy toast and juice will cost about 80-100 baht in a cafe or restaurant.

HOW MUCH DOES THE LUNCH COST?

By lunchtime, all catering establishments along the beach line begin to work. The prices in them are slightly higher compared to institutions located a little further, but not dramatically, to leave the sunbed for a long time and go hiking in search of food. The average check for one person in a beach tent is about 150-200 baht, but it all depends on the appetite.

HOW MUCH DOES THE DINNER COST?

With the onset of darkness, Samui turns into a large kitchen, where on each corner something is fried or cooked, exuding tart aromas. There are cafes and places where only local ones returning from work eat, there are establishments aimed at the average tourist, and restaurants welcoming a respectable audience.

European dishes on the menu of any institution are more expensive than Thai. Beef stroganoff or Cordon Bleu categorically do not reach the standard version familiar to European guests. Therefore, do not spend extra money, enjoy the magnificent Thai cuisine in all the diversity of its incarnations.
